First off, I apologize for a lack of a WOTW last week. I was hammered down with school work. With that out of the way...

A fun thing to do in flash is taking sprites and making hilarious and vulgar short movies out of them. No one does it better than Randy Solem, founder and manager of The Outlet's Website of the Week, Video Game Director's Cuts. This wesite features 40+ sprite-based spoofs on classic video game series and other movies sent in by fans. These flash movies, especially the Mario movies, are funny as hell. Check it out.

First off, it should be noted that these flash movies ARE NOT ACTUALLY DIRECTOR'S CUTS. The site's name is a spoof on his own films. Also, Randy Solem makes some, if not most, of the funnies flash movies ever. He is the Monty Python of sprite-based flash movies.

Imagine a website that has all of the following: previews, reviews, retrospectives, user-submitted content, and a bunch of other things on and about video games.

Well, no longer imagine. GameTrailers has all of that in one place. You will get video reviews, video previews, the ability to watch any video either in Standard Definition or High Definition. GameTrailers also features interviews with gaming luminaries and gives you an inside look at various industry events. I reccomend this website. Visit it often.

Flash movies are funny as hell and flash games give players something to pass the time at work (NOT condoning) while giving up and coming programmers a chance to learn basic programming skills.

Flash game/movie sites are abound on the internet, but none are as known and have not as many flash works other than Newgrounds. Founded and run by Tom Fulp, Newgrounds hosts various flash movies and games. The flash movies on this site parody many things, from Anime to Video Games, which are hilarious. Many flash artists also got their start on Newgrounds. Go there, now!

Website of the Week: The Super Flash Bros.

The Super Flash Brothers (named after the video game "Super Smash Bros.") are known for their flash cartoons such as the "Decline of Video Gaming" series and for their flash games like "Detective Grimore". Founded and run by brothers Tom and Adam "Dim" Vian, the Super Flash Bros website not only features the flash movies and games, but also a blog-like front page and a forum section.

I recommend that you see these movies and play the games from this site when you get the chance. You will have a fun time.

Video games have either been praised or targeted by politicians since the dawn of the industry. Some politicians applaud the game industry while others try to legislate against it. Although most gamers say that politicians need to ignore the issue, I say the issue can't be ignored.

Game sites report on political stories surrounding games, but one site is dedicated to the matter of the political side of games: GamePolitics.com

The editor and creator is Dennis McCauley, a games columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer. His site has been praised by various news outlets and cited by watchdog groups. Dennis McCauley has also been featured in Next Generation's 50 most influential game journalists.

GamePolitics features stories about game legislation, the perception of games in the mainstream media, watchdog groups, and game charities among others. This site also broke the story of the infamous Hot Coffee mod in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This site also allows the readers to post relpies to the stories (my post name is Buckeye 531).
